The NGFT flight risk assessment tool (FRAT) helps pilots, technical crew and flight operation managers or other personnel to assess the risk of an upcoming flight. Since all flights carry some level of risk, its important to distinguish between low, medium and high-risk flights. Pilots and operators should establish a review process and develop risk mitigation strategies in order to reduce risks for all flights. FRATs come in various formats but generally involve answering questions or entering data to identify and measure flight risk. Each operator should set a risk threshold based on factors like the type of operation, environment, aircraft, crew training, and experience. If a flight’s risk level exceeds that threshold, the hazards must be assessed, and the risk reduced. Do not fly, if the hazards cannot be mitigated to an acceptable level. Alternatively the FRAT tool has a sign-off process built in where the responsible manager can allow the flight to go ahead.
The FRAT builder the responsible for flight operations and safety will find predefined FRAT templates that can be copied and adjusted to your needs. The interface allows you to develop and test your FRATs on one easy to use webpage. Get in touch in order to get access.
What you download here is the NGFT mobile App to be used by pilots and crew. This is what you can do with the NGFT FRAT mobile App:
- Type in your Flight + Operation
- Read the evaluated risk
- Mitigate risk
- If risk is still moderate to high: Ask for permission to fly / get permission or rejection
Note: you will only see FRATs that your company has released in the builder. So if you dont see anything, ask your manager.
